The Divinity School Coffee shop has been a fixture of the school since the 1960s. Originally called “The Swift Kick,” or “Swift Salvation” it was officially named “Grounds of Being” in the 1990s. The name is a play on Divinity School faculty member and theologian Paul Tillich’s “ground of being” concept.
