John S. Nuveen, 1896-1968, was a civic leader, diplomat, and investment banker, as well as a trustee of the University of Chicago and the Baptist Theological Union. In 1972, the Trustees of the Baptist Theological Union established an annual lecture in his name. Each year, the Divinity School invites an esteemed University of Chicago professor to present the annual John Nuveen Lecture.
