Howard Goodman Memorial Room

Howard Goodman was born and raised in Hyde Park. His life was marked by commitment both to the University of Chicago and to the neighborhood of Hyde Park. He was the grandson of one of the original members of the University of Chicago’s board of trustees, Edward Goodman, and himself was on the Board from 1942 until 1968. He was also a member, chairman, or honorary member of the Board of Trustees of the Baptist Theological Union from 1930 until his death in 1977. Howard is known for being an advocate for the University’s decision to remain in Hyde Park and for his participation in its urban renewal programs
